Federal Signal (Booth 1837) also will demonstrate how the company's technologies give officers the offensive edge they need to serve and protect communities and citizens like never before. Federal Signal's total solutions for law enforcement leaders include:
-- The Federal Signal BOSS(R) 3.0 automated license plate recognition (ALPR) back office software by PIPS enables efficient management of multiple mobile and fixed camera deployments, users and hotlists. BOSS 3.0 scales to support larger public safety deployments and regional agency data sharing and enhances intelligence and investigations by enabling multi-jurisdictional ALPR networks.
-- Federal Signal's The Edge(TM) low-profile automated license plate recognition (ALPR) camera by PIPS propels edge processing to the next level. The radically lower profile camera does not hinder performance of today's low profile lightbars, and also lowers cost of ownership by about 20 percent. An onboard platefinder analytic tool pushes processing to the edge to minimize the burden on the ALPR processor
Only a limited number of space shuttle flights are left in the program.
While replacing the data unit would be a relatively simple affair, diverting time and resources from other space missions would be problematic. Fortunately, NASA scientists were able to activate a backup data channel that had been dormant for 18 years.
Almost immediately, the Hubble used its wide-field planetary camera to transmit images of one galaxy passing through a pair of smoke-ring companions. It was an awesome return to form for the nearly two-decades-old space telescope.
A manned mission to replace the faulty data transmission router on the Hubble has been scheduled for May, 2009. The original servicing visit to the Hubble was pushed back from February because the replacement unit wasn't ready.
Meanwhile, the telescope's crisis has passed, and Hubble will continue transmitting images from the frontiers of space. NASA deserves hearty congratulations for its ingenuity.Mankind has its best set of eyes pointed at the stars again
